When I read the title of Bitch Slap, I was like, “This is bullsh*t”. I was offended. I was like, “Really? Is this what my career has come to?” It was kind of… disappointing. But I hadn’t been working at all, so I read a scene, and I just went, “Oh, I get it. These people are actually really funny.” I understand the joke and the tongue in cheek humor of it.

I play the brains behind the operation, Hel. She’s the brains behind the operation and the mastermind. What’s really exciting about Hel is that she starts out one way – very cold, emotionless, methodical and only concerned about business. As the film progresses, we learn more and more about her and find out she’s not at all what she seems to be, which allows me to go on a really interesting journey as an actress.

A lot of people assume that because there are cat fights in the movie that we really don’t like each other. That couldn’t be farther from the truth. After all the traveling we’ve done, we’ve made this really great friendship and we love each other like sisters and support each other. We go to each other’s film premiers and every time someone gets a new article in a magazine we go out and buy it.

My love scene with America is very quick, but my one with Erin is a lot more intense. We had a dialogue before and Erin said, “You know what would really suck is if people watch this and thought it was just okay.” And I went, “Oh, that can’t happen!” So nothing was off limits. I’m like…

“Can I grab you here?”

“Yeah, can I grab your boob?”

“Sure.”

“Can I use tongue?”

“Yeah.”

I think it comes down to being comfortable with a person, knowing what to expect. And you’re fueled by your character. My character Trixie needed this, she desired this, this was a moment when she needed nothing more but this.

It was in Japan when I was modeling there. It was basically just an audition where tons and tons of girls went on and they chose me to the be the face of her, which was really awesome and quite flattering because she’s like this iconic figure and now that I’ve started acting and I’ve become more of a public figure myself, people are putting two and two together and saying, “Wait, she’s actually a real person.” And to have that feedback and have people still approach me like, “You’re Jill Valentine.” It’s so flattering. It’s so awesome. It will live on in the video game world forever.

Julia Voth: Death Threats And Car Accidents

I was hit by a car the first day of grade four. I was walking to my aunt’s house and the sun was setting earlier because it was fall, and a guy who lived in town, a family friend – he was going too fast and he hit me at like 70. I did a somersault over the top of his car, I hit the pavement, fractured my jaw, and gave myself neck and back problems. I still have a little scar to prove it. And then, I don’t remember this, but what spectators said is when I hit the pavement I stood up and I walked to a ditch and collapsed. I guess it was just the instinct that being on the road wasn’t a safe place. My body just did that and I don’t remember. My family didn’t press charges of course. It wasn’t intentional at all – he felt so bad.

I had friends in Hish School, not too many though. I was away a lot. I’d go to places like Tokyo, Paris, NYC, LA. Not only was I travelling, but I was working as a professional model. I think it was a little hard for some people to understand. They thought I would be stuck up or conceited, but I wasn’t. My family would never allow it! There was one girl, we were friends in elementary school, and as we grew up I started modeling and traveling and we sort of drifted apart. It got kind of nasty. She wasn’t very nice to me at all. She kind of threatened to kill me. Not kind of, she did actually. The principal was called, my mother got involved. The whole school found out. I think the embarrassment of doing something like that was punishment enough.

When I read the name, Bitch Slap, I called my agent and said, “I don’t do soft porn.” And he’s like, “Read it. You don’t have to like it.” And then I read the first 20 pages and I was hooked. I called him back and said, “I need to read for Trixie. I need to be Trixie. So do whatever you’ve got to do. Pull your strings, get me in that room to read.” And he did and I guess here I am. This is my first acting job ever.

Trixie is a down on her luck stripper with a heart of gold, and she wears a little gold dress to match. She is the bait of the whole operation. Her body is her weapon. She can get anything she wants from a man or a woman with nothing more than a wink and a well-timed bend over.

I think a lot of women in the world today have that power and use it. I don’t think there is anything wrong with it. You shouldn’t abuse it, but I think using what you’ve got to get what you want or need, I think it shows confidence.

Introducing Julia Voth From Bitch Slap

“I’m a prairie farm girl,” says Julia Voth. Indeed she is, and a whole lot more. From a small town in Saskatchewan, Julia left the cold and snow behind and moved to Japan to pursue a successful modeling career. There she appeared in numerous campaigns, and was chosen to be the face of Jill Valentine in the Resident Evil video game series. After a move LA, Julia soon landed her first acting role as Trixie, a down on her luck stripper in Bitch Slap, a “post-modern, thinking man’s” throwback to exploitation films that opens this Friday.
