Pretty Little Liars is about four good friends who separate after the leader of the group, Alison, disappears one night. But a year later, we all start to get these messages from an anonymous “A” person, and they’re threatening to expose secrets that each of us have that we didn’t share with the others. We only told Alison. Along with dealing with these messages, we’re also dealing with things that a teenager goes through growing up. And we’re also trying to build relationships again between the four of us.

I play Emily Fields and she’s kind of the good girl out of the group, probably the sweetest one. She was raised in a very conservative family. She was the captain of her swim team at Rosewood, and she is just trying to figure herself out.

She’s dealing with her sexuality in particular and coming to terms with whether or not she likes girls or boys. That, along with everything else, is making it really hard because it’s a heavy weight that she’s carrying on her shoulders right now.
