Shantel VanSanten: Page Parkes Modeling Agency

When I was fifteen, I was shopping with my mom, and like people tell these stories, and I really didn’t believe that it would ever happen to me. I had never thought about modeling before but this stylist came up to me in the store, and I was trying on my eighth grade graduation dress or something. And she’s like, “You know, you should model.” I was like, “Okay, yeah for sure, whatever.”
Then she gave me her number and said, “I’m going to make some phone calls.” And she called me and she’s like, “I’m going to have you go in and meet with this lady who owns a modeling agency called Page Parkes.” And I asked my mom and we were like, “Yeah, you know what? Why not?”
So I went in and took a meeting, and I signed with them, and within like a month I had booked my first job, and I was working just doing like catalog stuff. And it’s kind of what opened the door for me into the acting world too because they were so supportive about it. They were the ones who put me in acting classes and I was like, “I don’t know. I’ve always done theater, but I don’t know how I feel about acting.” And they really pushed for me.
This is completely what my passion is, but I never understood I could make it into a career. They’re the people that opened up a lot of the doors and I guess who founded me. I’m really grateful for them because if I hadn’t have been for like their influence and pushing me and opening doors and showing me opportunities, I don’t know if I’d be here.
