“El sol sale para todos” (the sun rises for everybody), says Jazmin Lopez. And it most certainly has for this young latina. Raised in a small border town in Texas, Jazmin has always lived between two cultures, and now serves as a bridge between them. A double threat as a singer and as the host of MTV Tr3s’ Remexa, she moves from English to Spanish and back with such ease that speakers of either language know exactly what she’s saying. Her show Remexa champions regional Mexican music of which there are numerous genres, and Jazmin serves as a welcoming guide. With her second season just wrapped and a new album coming out next month, this hard-working Girl2Watch is living proof that “Quien madruga, Dios le ayuda” (“God helps the early riser.”)
