Megan Park: Hardcore Rap Phase
I’m going through a hardcore rap phase right now. I don’t know where it came from, but I’m always on Itunes, and a friend of mine, Aubrey Graham, is the rapper Drake, he’s really big right now. I’ve known him forever from Toronto, and so I downloaded his record and got really into it. I’ve decided I want to learn all the words to like every Drake song just so I can whip it out at parties, “Did you guys know I can rap an entire Drake song?”
I’ve always kind of had a thing for Jay Z, like a secret Jay Z fetish, but I also really liked the really hardcore rap. I’ve made crazy CDs. That’s all I listen to in my car and I don’t know why, but it’s like I can relate to it even though I’m not a gangster and I have no friends that are gangstas but I just really love it. It moves me and I don’t know why, but I love it.
I’m fascinated by gangs. I know that’s bad. When I moved here I didn’t know the Crips and the Bloods were real things and somebody was like, “It’s a real thing.” I’m fascinated by it. Whenever there’s something on the History channel about the history of gangs I always tape it.
