Lisa Donovan: About The Smack Talk
Well when you first start, it’s shocking. When you first get your first comments, it was like three years ago, it was like “What? Do they really think that? Oh my God! And you’re taken aback. I used to write back to them, to someone who would write a mean comment, and then they’d be so happy you wrote back! And they didn’t mean it at all! And it was more just, they’re venting, and they’re trying to get your attention, so I think through the process, you start to realize that none of it’s personal, and that’s true in life, I think too is that, anybody else, whatever they’re projecting, it usually has nothing to do with you, it’s you remind them of somebody, or they don’t like your opinion about that, and to me I just keep it really separate and I don’t take it personally. It’s just good to be getting the conversation going and you need a little back and forth.
