Dawn Olivieri: Five Hour Walk
I remember this guy – I don’t even remember being that serious about him in high school. But I think he literally walked to see me one day for 5 hours from his house. He lived so far, and he had no car because he was completely broke, and I remember him getting to me and I remember asking him, “How did you get here?” He’s sweating and this is in Florida – it’s hot in Florida. A five hour walk to see a girl, I couldn’t believe it. I was so – then you have to hang out with him. He’s not like gonna just leave and go. He literally walked 5 hours to my house.
Poor thing. I remember I think he had issues at home and I think it was probably just a nice release, and he enjoyed my company and he was really passionate. Just a nice guy. It was high school. We didn’t do anything, we just kind of hung out.
