Christine Woods: Tae Kwan Do
I’ve been taking Tae Kwan Do. I’ve been training as soon as David Goyer told me I was going to have to learn Tae Kwan Do and I was like oh my gosh, bring it on, so excited. So I signed up at this great studio with this great teacher and I’ve been taking it pretty consistently for about like three months,.
And it’s the most fun I have ever had in my life. I’m not doing a whole lot of sparring yet, but I’m doing a lot of positions and I’m learning forms and I’m learning kicks and I’m getting into great shape because of it. It’s honestly become a new obsession and I’m 100 percent committed to one day becoming a black belt. I love it so much.
It is definitely therapeutic in the physical and like metaphysical sense. I grew up a dancer and a singer, so my big thing was that I love to be graceful and this and that. But Tae Kwan Do is the perfect mix of athletics and like dancing and grace. You get that feeling of elongating and stretching and interesting movement, but it’s so hard. It’s like you’re running a marathon. When you punch the bag, you put on those gloves and you have to punch so hard. You definitely get a lot of your irritation out, which is great.
